Privacy Policy
Thinkbeside is a browser extension that lets you ask AI models about the page, document or video you're viewing. This policy explains what information the extension handles and what we do with it. In short: your content goes to the AI provider you choose, when you ask, and nowhere else. An optional account stores your email, name and token counts.
What we handle
- Page content you share. When you send a message with a page, selection, PDF or video transcript attached, that content is sent to the AI provider you selected to generate a reply.
- API keys. Keys you add for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek or xAI are stored locally in your browser. They are sent only to that provider.
- Conversation history and settings. Stored locally on your device. You can delete them at any time in Settings.
- Account information (optional). If you create an account we store your email address, the name you give us and which sign-in method you used (email code, Google or GitHub). You can use Thinkbeside without an account.
- Token counts. With an account, we store how many input and output tokens each model used per day, so you can see your usage across browsers. These are numbers only — never your chats, pages, documents or replies.
- Waitlist. If you join the Thinkbeside Cloud waitlist, we store that you joined and your email address so we can tell you when it is available.
What we don't do
- We don't read pages in the background. Content is accessed only when you open the panel and send a request.
- We don't sell, rent or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We don't use your content to train models.
AI providers
Requests you send are processed by the provider you choose under that provider's own terms and privacy policy. We recommend reviewing the policies of OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek and xAI.
Service providers
Account data is stored with Supabase, which provides our authentication and database. Sign-in emails are delivered by Resend. If you choose to sign in with Google or GitHub, that provider authenticates you under its own privacy policy. These providers process this data on our behalf and only to provide the service.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Thinkbeside's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the features you request.
Your choices
You can remove API keys, clear history, or uninstall the extension at any time, which deletes locally stored data. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold. Contact us to exercise them.
Uninstalling the extension does not delete your account. Delete your account first if you want the information stored with it removed.
To remove your account and everything stored with it, open Settings in the extension and choose Delete account, or email hello@thinkbeside.com.
Children
Thinkbeside is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the extension.
Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Thinkbeside ("we") for your use of the Thinkbeside extension and website. By installing or using Thinkbeside, you agree to them.
Using Thinkbeside
You may use Thinkbeside for personal or business purposes in line with these terms and applicable law. You're responsible for the content you send and for having the right to share it with an AI provider.
Your API keys and provider terms
Thinkbeside connects to AI providers using keys you supply. Your use of each provider is governed by its terms, and any usage charges are billed by that provider to you. We aren't responsible for provider availability, pricing or output.
Acceptable use
- Don't use Thinkbeside to break the law or infringe others' rights.
- Don't attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt or misuse the extension.
- Follow the usage policies of the AI providers you connect.
AI output
AI responses can be inaccurate or incomplete. Review output before relying on it, especially for legal, medical, financial or safety decisions.
Ownership
You keep all rights to your content. We own the Thinkbeside software, name and logo; these terms don't grant you rights to them beyond using the extension.
Disclaimers and liability
Thinkbeside is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the past 12 months.
Termination
You can stop using Thinkbeside at any time by uninstalling it or by deleting your account. We may suspend access if you violate these terms.
